When employees work away from their home base and in foreign countries, there is often a void in record-keeping. The employee does not belong in either the local (ie host country) HRIS or the one in his/her own country. He/she is often overlooked in headcount reports and items such as leave and general record-keeping. Complete HRIS products will have an expatriate component facility that enables administration of expatriate staff. Information recorded may include passport and visas details, date of posting, date expected to return, leave taken during posting, allowances, home trips, dependent schooling and so on
