| ABOUT THE HR FUNCTION - B3.5 Administer Company Transport | |||
|
While
contemporary HR practice tends to focus on strategic value-added HR
functions, many organizations have to focus on the logistics of getting
employees to their workplace. Transport becomes critical to the business
operation and is often seen as an HR function. Many HRIS products have a
transport component, especially in remote parts of Australia and Asia.
Information recorded includes pick-up point, bus route, type of bus,
driver details, complaints about bus incidents, bus times and frequency
(which may be linked to contractor payments), transport entitlement (based
on address or position in company), and so on. In some transport
components a mini-scheduling function may be a feature to facilitate
transport allocation during overtime or certain shift patterns |
